MiraKrum is a combination between the last part of my first name (Krassimira) and my grandfather’s name, Krum, to whom I have been named after.
I was born on 8th July 1967 in the family of Nadezhda (my mother – from the city of Gorna Oryahovitza) and Jordan (my father – from the city of Vratza) Jontchevi. To my parents and to my sister I owe the unique sensation of exceptional warmth and acceptance, which they have vowed to all my artistic impulses.
Even as a pupil, I would write in my literature essays that one day I would become a History teacher. Moreover, to the horror of my family, I would litter the wardrobe doors of our apartment with lesson plans for my imaginary students.…
Later, I discovered Fani Popova-Mutafova’s novels in our home library and decided that “The Thessalonian wonderworker” would become my talisman. Today I still keep on reading excerpts of the book again and again, to ‘recharge’ myself with strength…
In 1990, I graduated the Historical faculty at the University of Sofia “St. Climent Ohridski”. I started work as a history editor at the private monarchist newspaper ‘Bulgarian crown’. There I met unforgettable people, wrote freely on favourite topics of mine and enjoyed public approval…
In 1994, I decided to devote myself to teaching because I started recollecting the words of my pedagogy tutor at the university, the associate professor G. Georgiev, “Krasi, if you do not become a teacher, it is school that will lose!”. I have made the right choice and I feel myself a winner. I have been proving to my students for twenty years now, that knowing the past makes easier analyzing the present. And I think I have managed to convince them, in most cases at least…
I did my best to improve myself as a specialist throughout the years. I have successfully defended a III PQD /professional quality degree/ at the Department for Teachers’ Information and Improvement at the University of Sofia “St. Climent Ohridski”. I am also a member of the History Teachers Association, whose president is the associate professor Rumyana Kusheva, PhD.
It was a real professional challenge and creational delight in my life, when I, together with my close friends from the university, was involved in the preparation of the ІХ grade textbook of History /Anubis, 2001/. I am also grateful to Panayotova, PhD, Emiliya Karaboeva, Daniel Vatchkov, PhD, and Peter Karaboev for the unique emotion they made me feel – to be a member of a team, formed by people, sharing the same views!
In 2004, under the expert editing of Daniel Vatchkov, PhD, my school aid practice book “Tests and Activities for Specialized Preparation for Matriculation in History” has been published. It was only possible due to my successful cooperation with Ivan Bogorov Publishing House, and it was officially approved by The Ministry of Education in 2005.
